WotsItCalled is a free UK business directory built to help people find local businesses quickly and easily. No sign-ups, no paywalls, no sales calls to business owners. Just a clean, searchable directory of businesses across the UK.
Why we built it
Most business directories are built to sell subscriptions to business owners. Listings get buried unless someone pays. We think that is backwards.
WotsItCalled is built for the person searching. Every listing is free. Every business gets the same visibility. We make money through advertising, not by charging businesses to be found.
How it works
For visitors: Search by business type and location. Browse categories. Find what you need. It is free and always will be.
For business owners: Your business is probably already listed using publicly available information. You can claim your listing for free to update your details, add your logo, and make sure everything is accurate.
What we cover
We are building the directory city by city, starting with towns and cities across England and Wales. Each location gets its own page with businesses organised by category, from restaurants and pubs to plumbers and solicitors.
Our goal is to cover 500+ towns and cities with hundreds of thousands of business listings.
Our principles
- Free for everyone: Listings are free. Searching is free. Claiming is free.
- No hidden agendas: We do not sell “premium” listings or charge businesses to appear higher in results.
- Accuracy matters: We encourage business owners to claim and update their details. If something is wrong, tell us.
- Privacy respected: We only list publicly available business information. Business owners can request removal at any time.
